Jamshedpur Police Bust Drug Ring, Arrest 5 Peddlers, Seize Brown Sugar Worth Lakhs

Jamshedpur: City police recovered 24.8 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 3.5 lakh and arrested five peddlers in an operation late on Saturday.SSP Piyush Pandey said on Sunday that Santosh Singh and his wife, Ayesha Khatoon, were arrested from Gandhinagar Basti under Burmamines police station limits. Police recovered 124 packets of brown sugar from them.Based on leads from the couple, police arrested Gaurav Kumar alias Amar and Amit Kumar from Govindpur and seized 39 packets of brown sugar.In a separate raid, Sanjay Goswami alias Sanjay Bangali was arrested from Mango, with 12 packets of the banned substance.During investigation, police found the accused were linked to the inter-district drug syndicate recently busted by Seraikela-Kharsawan police, who had recovered 82.8g of brown sugar worth Rs 16.50 lakh from three peddlers on May 7. More arrests are likely, the SSP said.
